In May, Rous delegates working in water operations, water treatment, and future planning attended Australia’s premier water industry conference.

Hosted by the Australian Water Association, for more than 60 years Ozwater has been bringing together experts, innovators and water utilities from across the country to share ideas, explore new technologies, and tackle the big challenges facing the water sector.

Dozens of presentations and workshops presented by experts from around the world covered all aspects of water delivery during the three-day event in Adelaide.

Points of interest for the Rous team included responding to emergencies in extreme weather events and climate change considerations; the use of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies in water operations, quality management, distribution and flood gate management; asset planning and management; and recognition and improvements in the technical competency and qualifications of water operators.

For a regional service provider like Rous, the annual event is a valuable opportunity to stay connected to national conversations. From practical insights on water treatment to forward-thinking strategies for resilience and sustainable growth, the conference offered our team new thinking and information to support the Northern Rivers’ long-term water security.

Ozwater has grown from a Federal Convention first held in 1964, to Australia’s biggest water conference and exhibition. OzWater’25 was held from 20 May – 22 May in Adelaide.
