22 October 2018
In accordance with section 420 of the Local Government Act 1993, any person may make a submission to Council with respect to the Audited Financial Reports or Auditor’s Report. Submissions must be in writing and lodged with Council within seven days of the reports being presented to the public. Copies of Council’s Audited Financial Reports are available for inspection at Council’s Administration Office, 218-232 Molesworth Street, Lismore, during office hours or by clicking here.
(Section 361 of the Local Government Act 1993)
20 September 2018
Submissions are invited from members of the public on an amended Code of Meeting Practice, available here.
It is proposed to alter the number of months that Council meets by amending clause 2.1 on page 12 to read: "Council meets on the third Wednesday of February, April, June, August, October and December at 1:00pm".
On the third Wednesday of each month where Council meetings are not held, Council will hold briefings or workshops (unless there is no substantial matter required for discussion, following consultation with the Chair).
Submissions may be made up until 12 noon Friday 2 November 2018:
by mail: to the General Manager, Rous Council Council, PO Box 230, Lismore NSW 2480, or
by email: firstname.lastname@example.org
County Councils are required to meet a minimum of 4 times per year. Reducing the number of meetings from 10 to 6 per year will improve organisational efficiency without any major impact to timeliness, transparency or the level of information provided to Council. As noted above, improved councillor engagement will be enabled, with the dedication of non-meeting months to forums such as councillor workshops, briefing sessions, and site-visits. This will allow more in-depth focus on strategic matters, including policy, management plans, long term financial plans and projects.
