In May 2019, Rous County Council Weed Biosecurity officers seized the highly invasive plant, pampas grass, from three locations in the Byron Bay and Tweed regions.
Made popular by viral social media images, pampas grass is considered a weed in most Australian states and territories as it competes with native vegetation and is a fire hazard.
