Big Scrub Rainforest Day

It is on again in 2020!

Big Scrub Rainforest Day 2020 will be held as a free online event, allowing a great opportunity for everyone to get involved despite Covid-19 restrictions.

This year will mark the 22nd anniversary and will be held on Sunday, 20 September 2020, with the theme ‘Saving our Rainforests from Fire’.

Facilitated by well-known ABC journalists Kerry O'Brien and Mick O'Regan, the event will feature a series of two panel discussions on important issues relating to the recent bushfires in and around Nightcap National Park.

A big thank you to our long-term partners Big Scrub Landcare Inc and Envite Environment and valued event supporters Saving Our Species and the NSW Environmental Trust to deliver this event and its unique format for 2020.

Big Scrub Landcare announces 2019 Big Scrub Rainforest Day program

Dive in to the program and discover the Big Scrub.

Four jam-packed days have been announced for the 21st annual Big Scrub Rainforest Day from 19-22 September. There are 16 activities in idyllic locations across the Big Scrub landscape so that everyone can learn about the rainforest and celebrate its magnificent biodiversity, with an eye to its restoration and care.

The weekend features guided rainforest walks, nature connection workshops, landholder field days, community tree plantings, science and ecology talks, and fun family activities. Most activities are free, while others will contribute 100% of ticket sales to Big Scrub Landcare.

So far more than two million trees have been used to restore 600 hectares of land across the Big Scrub. Are you ready to help us plant more? Rous County Council in association with Big Scrub Landcare will be planting more than 1,000 trees at the Wilsons River tidal pool on 20 September. Contact to book your place.

The long weekend is designed for exploring, learning about and experiencing the magnificence of the Big Scrub. There will be renowned experts, ecologists and passionate environmentalists lead nine guided walks that will shine a light on the different aspects of the Big Scrub rainforest. Spaces are limited and bookings are essential.

Activities are located across the Big Scrub and beyond, from Lismore to Nightcap National Park to Booyong Nature Reserve to Heritage Park in Mullumbimby.

Bookings essential! Go to the Big Scrub Landcare website for more.
